the clothes
on my back
aren’t enough
to protect me
from the cold,
for I am a poor boy
the skin
on my cheeks
and the water
in my eyes
are freezing
with the sunset
your heart
is strong,
loyal
and warm
and helps you live
in this icy place
your brown eyes
are beautiful
and help
you see me
in this fierce,
frozen world
you take
a glowing lantern
from the frosted window
and head
into the night
to hold my hand and guide me in
