grateful

Patrick.

The sun rises in his smile, and his brown eyes hold the earth of the mountains of Peru.

It is from there that he and his family came.

They have been in the United States for about 3 years.

He is a brilliant kid.

Can you imagine thinking in one language and learning in another language...both at the same time?

I can because I did for 3 years in Mali in West Africa.

It was tough for me.

It is tough for him.

He does it with grit and grace.

Like so many immigrant students and their families.

It is a picture of his beautiful heart.

He told me how much it meant to him for his dad to give him an iPad “because he worked so hard to save up enough money to buy it for me.”
