Notes from public school - day 78

Today at public school I saw...
12 kindergarteners trying hard to be nice instead of naughty

11 teachers looking up into the sky, hoping the rain would go away, understanding that teaching with a full moon on Friday the 13th with a week before Christmas and indoor recess is a quadruple whammy

10 lunch ladies serving pizza with kind smiles

9 fifth graders looking for ways to be good examples to “the little kids”

8 girls with wonder in their eyes on their way to see the Nutcracker for the first time

7 fourth graders turning their daily lives into poems

6 library books tucked into backpacks for weekend reading

5 custodians cleaning and humming quietly

4 mathematicians analyzing The Factory by Pablo Picasso

3 students with their arms around each other’s shoulders, celebrating friendship

2 Teachers crying from broken hearts for one of their students

1 fourth grade teacher rocking in his classroom rocking chair, writing

All in a day in public school.
