What are teachers?
Teachers are pencils.
We are the yellow color of the pencil itself that is the yellow of the early morning sun that we see rise each and every morning as we make our way to our schools.
We are the erasers that rub out the mistakes our students make in our classrooms, mistakes that we correct and forgive until there is only a hint that they were there in the first place.
We are the graphite our students use to write their stories for the world.
Teachers are notebook paper.
We are the blank page on which students write what they’re learning about the world.
We are the lines keep our students organized and show them the way.
Teachers are textbooks.
We are the area model to help our students understand multiplication instead of just memorizing it.
We are the planets.
We are human rights.
Teachers are.
